MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY Participating teams -- Drake, Iowa State BULLDOG CLASSIC -- Aug. 31, 2001 Ewing Park, Des Moines, Iowa 77 Degrees Des Moines, Iowa -- Jason Lehmkuhle, a former two-time NCAA All-American at Drake, won the three-mile run in the Bulldog Classic cross country meet Friday, covering the three-mile course in 15 minutes 1 second. John Crimmings, a senior from Racine, Wis.,was Drake's top finisher placing fourth in 15:43. Mike Mwangong was the top finisher for Iowa State, placing ninth in 16:02. In 1999 Lehmkuhle became the first Drake runner to win a Missouri Valley Conference individual cross-country championship since 1981. He was eighth in the 5,000 at the 2000 NCAA Indoor Meet and third in the 10,000 at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Meet. He ran the fastest 10,000 time in MVC history in 28:44.91 at the Stanford Invitational March 25, 2000.
